Tinkuy (Starlink)

Galerie Younique presents for the first time the Ephemeral 01 session by inviting the Peruvian artist Yerko Zlatar. This session will be developed over a week with in situ creations of the artist.

The Tinkuy (Starlink) exhibition explores the relationship between ancient Peruvian cosmos observation and current technology. The central work of the exhibition, a pyramid created from the internal structure of a Starlink modem case, resembles the truncated pyramids of Huaca Rajada and Huaca de la Luna in northern Peru. The huacas are temples that served as astronomical observatories, allowing to get acquainted with the Hanan pasha, or world from above. Starlink (link to the stars) is an internet provider, which deploys a constellation of satellites launched by SpaceX, with the aim of covering the Earth with broadband network. Zlatar uses the name Tinkuy, a Quechua word that means «encounter or connection» in order to confront our relationship with the universe, our human relations and our vision of using a space conquest. A reflection on the near future by looking at our past...
