D'Est en Ouest

15 February - 28 March 2026
Galerie Younique, Paris

" A composition made from two colors, the red of the background and the white of the drawing. Two symbolic colors related to my origins, French and Peruvian, and also a tribute to Juan Manuel Cardenas Castro, my father, who advised me not to use bright red – vermilion – in my paintings.
Playful games of shapes and contents that walk on the wall surface. These four axes then become and compose a typology and intertwine to form an imaginary and, at first glance, abstract landscape.
Pieces of life: writing and typology. "

Alain Cardenas-Castro

Image historian, exhibition curator, researcher, visual artist, Alain Cardenas-Castro mixes graphic signs in his approaches to the image and the imaginary. His books and essays constitute a broad fresco of symbols between East and West, another part of his endless interrogations. An activity that has been ongoing for nearly half a century.

This is the artist’s second solo show at the gallery.
